CCP Games, the developer of the popular series of massively multiplayer online (MMO) game EVE Online, announced the start of Shroud of Fear, EVE Frontier’s Cycle 5 of Founder Access.
Consequently, the developer announced a hackathon that aims to expand EVE Frontier.
Shroud of Fear Launch
Until March 31, 2026, Founder Access to play Shroud of Fear is available for $19.99. The access can be purchased in this link.
“Cycle 5 marks another step toward CCP Games’ long-term vision for EVE Frontier as a hardcore space survival experience. A new trailer, released today, showcases how EVE Frontier is evolving.”

New Features
EVE Frontier’s fifth cycle introduced “Shell Industry,” a feature that allows players to manufacture the clone bodies they inhabit, taking direct control over their production, storage, and enhancement.
Meanwhile, more features like the “Nursery” manufacturing facility and the “Nest” storage facility were introduced, where players can create new “Shells” and manage their equipped skills through “Crowns” (which are specialized memory constructs) to shape their capabilities and progression.
- If a shell is destroyed, the skills and memory imprinted on that body are lost with it.
Dungeons will now be called “Orbital Zones,” with distinct ecosystems across solar systems and distributing resources, non-player characters, and loot naturalistically.
- Feral AI will patrol and move dynamically between points of interest, reacting to their surroundings, analyzing, and defending key locations.
- Two new types of rifts and crude matter are available across almost every star system, allowing players earlier and more frequent access to crude industry.
Construction sites at owned network nodes allow players to collaboratively deliver materials before structures come online.
- At L-Points, multiple players can establish a base, increasing opportunities for cooperation and conflict.
Adjusted Features
Defensive infrastructure has been overhauled with the introduction of three specialized turrets.
- Autocannon Turret, built to shred smaller ships.
- Plasma Turret, designed to counter mid-sized threats.
- Railgun Turret, engineered to engage larger combat vessels.
Lighter hulls now accelerate faster and carve tighter flight paths, with slot layouts that emphasize active defenses.
- Heavier ships trade angular agility for greater mass, higher top speeds, and passive durability.
- The new Exclave frigate can also be manufactured, offering a focused, high-mobility option for pilots who favor precision.
- Fuel now carries new properties that impact active consumption and interstellar travel.
- Passive scanning allows players to detect signatures in space and monitor their surrounding environment before committing to movement or engagement.
EVE Frontier Hackathon
Meanwhile, on March 11, 2026, CCP Games confirmed that EVE Frontier has migrated from the Ethereum Network to the Sui Network.
Alongside the migration is the 2026 Frontier Hackathon, a global online event running until March 31, 2026, with a prize pool of $80,000.
According to CCP Games, builders are invited to join the initiative and develop mods that extend the EVE Frontier.
“Under the theme ‘A Toolkit for Civilization,’ this Hackathon invites builders to create the infrastructure, systems, and tools that a nascent civilization might depend on, and to deploy them directly into a live universe.”

EVE Frontier’s Recent Activity
In mid-2025, CCP Games transitioned EVE Frontier from closed alpha to a public-access phase.
It introduced a seasonal progression system called “Cycles,” allowing players to earn “EVE Points,” a new in-game currency rewarded for completing missions and rising through leaderboard ranks.
